Mistakes are Mortal

by Sherry Pitcock

What is it with the revolving door in real estate offices? New agents join and then are gone. They seemed so enthusiastic, so energetic. What happened? Did they not work hard enough? Were they not smart enough? Did they lack the family contacts?

When starting a career in real estate the odds are massively against you. Our study shows that 13 out of 14 fail before they finish their second year. Any veteran will tell you that no more than 10% ever make it. They don't even want to make friends with new agents because they probably won't be around long anyway.

The 13 who fail didn't plan it that way. They, like you, wanted a career in real estate. What happened?

Mistakes during the first year are critical. Every one is career-ending.. If your focus is on learning everything about real estate; Learning all the details of lending, contracts, probate, foreclosures, commercial transactions, and the list goes on, you are doomed to be one of the 13 who fail.

I have known new agents who spend the first precious few months working on getting their Broker's license or on getting a CRS rating! Nothing could be less productive. Nothing could be more deadly to your career.

Anyone can do a transaction or two with a friend or relative. The question is not where your first transaction is coming from, it is WHERE IS THE NEXT ONE COMING FROM ... AND THE ONE AFTER THAT?

If you don't have and effective plan to develop leads in a consistent manner and a system to manage them until they mature into your next transaction, you will no doubt be one of the 13.

A real estate career is not easy. It is a lot of hard work. But it is far from complicated. You need to focus on finding people who are going to buy or sell in the near future and keep in close contact with them over time.

You need an efficient and effective plan to find them and a system to remain personally in contact with them, providing real value over time.

Only the Journey to Mastery™ program provides you with long-term focus on creating the system that will drive yourbusiness for the rest of your life.
